Soon after midnight, I headed back to my apartment with NyQuil at hand. I slept as much as my body and mind would allow. By Friday, I was still sick but excited I get to spend some time with Matt this weekend for my birthday. I had expectations of going to a musical he had previously planned. Instead, he showed up Friday morning insisting we go to San Antonio for the weekend.

I‘m not one to allow a man to spend money like that on me, nor do I have to funds to spilt the cost. Matt is persistent in what he wants and he really wants to go away for the weekend, who am I to argue. We pack randomly and headed out around noon. I have always loved our adventures together, random ones were always the best.

Our four to five hour drive seemed like nothing, time always flies with conversation with us. We get to the hotel and immediately head out to the Riverwalk, what I’ve been wanting to see for years. We walk a while, just taking in the atmosphere, the energy, the music, the possibilities. Until we came to the piano bar Matt mentioned, we also spent my birthday last year at a dual piano bar, which we loved.

We walk in with a decent crowd, and the energy as fun as a kid in a candy store. Matt and I have many things in common and people watching is one of our favorites. The piano bar did NOT disappoint! The pianist playing all the bar favorites, anything by request, cracking jokes as he went along. While we enjoyed the music, we notice a couple across the small bar. The woman is the loudest in the bar and definitely the most drunk.
