It’s been weeks since I’ve written anything, too many things going on in my mind to calm down enough to sort them.
I finally gave up on living in Texas, back living with my dad. I wasn’t here for a week and had an interview in Pennsylvania, which I turned down. It didn’t feel right, it didn’t feel safe, or supportive, not like you deserve any explanation. An explanation only matters to me, my reasons and/or excuses.
The interview was directed by the previous CFO and is also the current CFO’s father. I was completely convinced this was the right opportunity for me to move on, move forward, get my independence back. That was until he left and the son crushed it all for me. Confessed he’s unorganized, never on time, and only has maybe two hours a week for his team of 20 employees.
He even told me about an employee him and the President of the company disagree on. He explained the employee does 20% of his work, so he can’t let him go yet. I asked him who was doing the 80% of his work and he said other on his team. I then explained that he’s paying an employee 100% of his check to only do 20% of the work. Other employees will start doing the same if one can get away with it.
I kept it professional but really wanted to tell him “its managers like you that makes the shit run down hill”. Any other situation I would wonder how he got to be in his position, but we all know how….duh.
